Martin Erik Andersen: Gulv, 2013.

The Exhibition Kingdom of Dirt + Special Guest Stars curated by Martin Erik Andersen has been awarded by Danish Arts Foundation

Last chance to see the exhibition Martin Erik Andersen: Kingdom of Dirt + Special Guest Stars at Galleri Susanne Ottesen, is saturday 12. of october.

AF Galleri Susanne Ottesen

The exhibition has just been awarded by the Danish Arts Foundation with the following motivation:

The concrete floor by Martin Erik Andersens in the exhibition "Kingdom of Dirt" at Galleri Susanne Ottesen, is in many ways an open work, both literally and in a physical sense but also contentwise. The concrete floor superimposes the gallery floor temporarily as an extra layer of meaning in a physical sense. It has in its rough appearance a bodily and indeksikal meaning, to some extent matched by the delicate and complicated ornamented appearance that draws on meanings from Islamic iconography, both as geometry but also on the infinite extent of the ornament and the dissolution of the room. The floor's open function - (it can be moved, be used in other spaces than gallery space, - it is in its indexicality close to the sculpture but still a surface - it's icon without becoming picture) offers a convincing and poetic way of reflecting about the abilities of a floor and as an artwork. For this surprising and fine reflection Martin Erik Andersen is rewarded DKK 50.000,- by the Danish Arts Foundation.

In addition to the concrete floor the exhibition contains a small object accumulation of laser light and videos by Martin Erik Andersen, as well as works by Andy Boot (AU), Bjørn Nørgaard, Christine Ödlund (SE), David Tibet (GB), Emil Westman Hertz, Franz West (AT), Fredrik Söderberg (SE), Henrik Olesen, Ib Braase, Jiri Georg Dokoupil (SZ), Judith Hopf (DE), Christine Kemp, Lars Bent Petersen, Lawrence Weiner (US), Louise Bourgeois (FR), Marie Søndergaard Lolk, Marijke van Warmerdam (NL), Martin Jacob Nielsen, Olav Christopher Jenssen (NO), Pernille With Madsen, Rasmus Rosengaard, René Schmidt, Rolf Nowotny, Rosemarie Trockel (DE) , Sarah Lucas (GB), Troels Wörsel and Vinyl Terror & Horror.
