Louisiana Literature 2013

Louisiana's annual festival opens for intense days of literature between Thursday the 22nd and Sunday the 25th of August 2013. The festival offers a large and varied program with 40 writers from Denmark and abroad.

AF Maria Bordorff

This year's Louisiana Literature is the fourth edition and welcomes as usual the audience inside the museum and outside in the garden, for interesting and vibrant days of literature readings, discussions and performances.
The festival will open with norwegian author Per Petterson, who was well received by the Danish reviewers and readers with his novel Jeg nægter (original title: Jeg nekter) released this spring. Petterson is not just a great writer in the Northern countries, his novels have been translated into several languages and been well received all over.

The full program of the festival will be published in the beginning of august, but among the many interesting international names we already find the austrian cult writer Peter Handke, known especially for his screenplay for the film Wings of Desire (original title: Der Himmel über Berlin) directed by Wim Wenders in 1987. Handke will be presenting his novel Det store fald (original title: Der Grosse Fall) at Louisiana Literature and norwegian writer Karl Ove Knausgård, who is also the publisher of the book, will be interviewing him.
The english writer Zadie Smith will also be present at this year's festival. She debuted by the age of 25 with the novel White Teeth and is now out with NW, a dazzling portrait of the life in North West London. The award-winning irish writer Nick Laird, who is in pair with Zadie Smith, will perform with his much acclaimed collection of poems Go Giants.

Also finish author Sofi Oksanen is to be found in the program. She received, as the first woman in history, the Swedish Academy's Nordic Price earlier this year and has again, with her latest novel Da duerne forsvandt (eng. When the doves dissapeared) written a powerful and poignant novel about the gloomy story of Estonia.

The program is overwhelming and among others we should mention that Taiye Selasi, Colum McCann, Antonio Pennachi, Olga Grjasnowa, Waciny Laredj, Tomomi Adachi, Katarina Frostenson, Eínar Már Gudmundsson, Rosa Liksom, Johannes Anyurus, Fredrik Sjöberg and Erlend Loe will guest the festival in August. All are they great voices within the international literaray scene. Detailed information about the participating authors can be found at Louisiana's web page: www.louisiana.dk/dk/Menu/Louisiana+Literature

The full program including also the danish writers is, as already mentioned, expected to be out by the beginning of august on Louisiana.dk and facebook.

Festival tickets for all four days can be bought in advance, but no guaranteed seating for the individual events will be given.

See you for late summer days of literature at Louisiana, Gl. Strandvej 13, 3050 Humlebæk
