The exhibition is called A Perhaps Tasteful Image because I have worked with how things get represented, with reference to the idea of aesthetics and how aesthetics can be used. I am interested in examining how you can work with trends and tendencies within the visual arts and how displays have become a constant theme and a recurring focus. For the exhibition I worked with a 2D representation as a way to understand the relationship between framing and representation of objects. There is a tendency in the arts to think more about the final result and display, before you initiate the installation. More and more people uses the Internet for viewing art and things/objects in general, which results in a two dimensional way of looking at the object.

I thought it could be interesting to let go of the installation and invite interior stylists, Tine Daring and Pernille Vest, to install the exhibition instead. The installation was done in advance so that the 2D representation or documentation could be integrated in the show. The 2D representation of the exhibition is, in figuratively speaking, a way of contemplating the world – a world where we edit extensively. But what becomes of the picture and the artist in the editing process? I retouched the 2D representation together with photo editor Thomas Cato, using the same procedures as used when editing interior and fashion magazines. I wanted to create a more aesthetic version of the photo, which was done by brightening the colours and retouching.

Coorporations and working amongst others, getting influenced, working with displacement and transition is quite general in my work. I like to reuse elements of my previous works, for an example by taking pieces of previous works out of their context and placing the objects in new settings. The pillow we see in A Perhaps Tasteful Image is a good example of one of my references. For my previous exhibition. I got an American artist, Kathleen Madison Moore, to paint a painting for me, which included my own works placed in a interior which was a mix between a gallery and a private home. I also asked her to paint objects from her imagination, and the pillow was one of them. I then chose to produce the pillow in 3D, which up until now haven’t existed.

Thank you.
