As a natural continuation of LARMgalleris growing success on the national and international art scene, the gallery moves to larger premises in Bredgade 73.
The unique rooms at No 73 originally housed one of Copenhagen's first pharmacies established in 1758 by royal permission, and will form the framework for a series of unique exhibitions and events in the coming years.

After careful restoration, Bredgade 73 appears as a unique exhibition space where the baroque interior will provide interesting contrast to the contemporary art on show. LARMgalleri's new premises contain a total of 200 m2 exhibition space, providing the gallery's artists an exceptional platform to exhibit.

As opening exhibition LARMgalleri has invited the Belgian artist Stephan Balleux (1974) to transform the gallery's new premises into a space that seduces and attracts the viewer. A total mise-en scène where the visitor encounters a scenographic universe where boundaries between space, movement, and identity dissolve and constitute anew. The exhibition presents a wide selection of painting, sculpture and drawing and is made in collaboration with Oliver Gustav Studios.

The Study

"Every passion borders on the chaotic, but the collector's passion borders on the chaos of memories."
-Walter Benjamin in The Arcades Project

The Study is based on a magical universe: the collector's cabinet and the researcher's study room, a Wunderkammer where the identity of objects are being examined, manipulated and staged. The exhibition is a tableaux vivant composed of seductive objects, sculptures, paintings, drawings and photographs arranged in a fictional universe.

Representation, reflection and transformation are key concepts for the Belgian artist Stephan Balleux. His works are hybrid design that take on many forms, depending on the technique used (special effects and models produced by computer programming, drawing, painting, sculpture, video, photography, etc.). Most often his works are based on existing images or objet trouvé, chosen according to their evocative mystery. Stephan Balleux engages in numerous manipulations. He examines the work's status in the world of simulacrum and virtuality. His approach - akin to an endless dissection - is subject to the work itself and its potential and place in our current era. His sculptures and paintings are transformations of and variations over already existing objects; In other words, his works are poetic metamorphosis in an expanded field.

Stephan Balleux, born in Brussels in 1974, studied painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He has most recently exhibited at AEROPLASTICS and Spectrum in Brussels.
